REACHING OUT?

Group,

After visiting a metal detector shop in Colorado the other day and seeing the lack of mining rights knowledge first hand, I'm thinking it would be advantageous for us to have a flyer we could put in anyone's hand, or even post with the owners permission, advising them of their rights and even directing them here for additional information. It could look something like this perhaps....

              !!!ATTENTION MINERS AND PROSPECTORS!!!
Your ability to utilize public lands is being threatened to the point of possibly being intimidated or even arrested while on said lands. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS plainly spelled out for all of us in the 1872 Congressional Mining Laws.  Etc, Etc...

Could someone here much more knowledgeable than myself produce such a flyer? (A second more detailed tri-fold type also would be good.)

I don't see anything wrong with doing that.

Thank you for the great idea. You are correct to remember that the mining law is the most important thing to know by miners, but associated businesses and manufactures are no less effected by the misinformation that the government has spread over the whole community. 1866 is very busy as is woof and I, but perhaps between the 3 of us, we can produce something that could quickly refute the misinformation of the government.

However, the cost of printing would have to be borne by the suppliers and manufacturers.  Let's contact our area suppliers and manufactures and see if they would be willing to share in the printing and shipping costs.

Attach?

Thank you 1866 and GoldPatriot. Just so you know, I was thinking perhaps those of us willing to distribute the flyer or handouts, could probably print them off ourselves, ...if it's possible for you to attach a Word or PDF document in this forum. Granted they may not look real professional, but I'm sure we are more concerned with the message than the looks of the method used. The "tri-fold" handout I mentioned could be 2 pages that we put onto one when printing.

Not that I am trying to cause any thread drift here but, personally I would rather see us, or Public Lands for the People, use funds to establish our own GPAA like club. A membership free from the encumbrances of the BLM offices with a claim or 2 to start with. Perhaps we could call it, Metals Mining and Prospectors Society of America. MAPPS for short? Or, get them to consider branching out?
(Note: I attempted to join the other day but their credit card app malfunctioned.)

I have a color printer and fax that i will use.
And E-MAILS!!!

I'll start working on a draft handout, in .pdf format.

As far as a new mining group... I already have an outline on a program that you might be interested in. I still have some work to do on it, so if you're interested, please send me an email.  I'll send it along as soon as I'm finished with the Executive Summary.

great idea eastcreek!!!!!! good one....i wonder if the document/brochure could just be as simple as emailing it to say D&K in portland, Keene, etc...and have them print it and post it   until someone like Keene (who could afford to help w costs) was recruited?

As GP noted, I am BURIED right now and in addition to taking on more and more responsibilities by the day it seems, we are also hoping to do some mining here soon (ie. in the next few days).

That said, I don't have a problem contributing to drafting a flier.

i wonder what the SWOMA people think of our efforts here? It would be neat to see a link to us on their website.........And if they are reading this...please borrowl the copy of the 1870 act and post on the SWOMA website so others can copy/paste it.....Its under abbreviations along with the 1866 act..
Hefty

I think they know about this forum.
1866

They do.
