Please have pen and paper ready before the Classroom opens.  Note taking is very much advised.

The Instructors will take you through the lesson and will take short breaks to allow you to clarify points you don't understand.

Please wait until the lesson is over before you ask questions about how the lesson is to be applied to you or your claim. Once the lesson is over, this Classroom will stay up and you can come back anytime to ask further questions, about this lesson ONLY.

We have to follow these rules or we will never get through what needs to be taught.

Thanks,

GoldPatriot

Okay guys, I am going to simplify this lesson just a little, because I think it is important for everyone to grasp the basic concept that the Mining Law is a grant of certain rights.

That said, I am going to assume that you followed up and read the Acts of 1866, 1870 and 1872 as outlined in the assignment. If not, you may go back and reference them (in fact, I recommend that you print them and have them in front of you). You can access them all at:

http://www.jeffersonminingdistrict.com/

(see right hand column).

Please answer, in your own words, the following questions:

1. Where is the grant in the Mining Law?

2. Who is eligible to be a grantee?

3. What rights are granted by the Mining Law?

4. How are these granted rights enacted by a potential mineral estate grantee?

5. Did the Act of 1872 eliminate the rights contained in the two previous acts? If so, why? If not, why not?

You will not be graded, but will be critiqued in a manner to point you in the right direction.

If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask.

Yes (even if in very simple terms), but there's a little more to it than that. Why don't you go back and have another read.
